US – RRT Helps at Detroit Arthritis Jingle Bell Run / Walk Event
On December 5th 2015 the RRT team in Detroit, Michigan USA assisted in the operations of a fundraising walk/run for Arthritis Jingle Bell Run spread across a large area of the Downtown Detroit. The start line was at the Comercia Bank Stadium which is home to the Detroit Tigers. The weather wasn’t the most favourable with a heavy fog and cold conditions, but this did not deter the participants and the RRT team to get out there and show great support.
The Jingle Bell Run is an event that the Arthritis Foundation holds across America to raise funds to support research and treatment for patients with Arthritis. Arthritis is an informal way of referring to more than 100 different types of joint diseases that affect 53 million adults and 300,000 children the United States alone.
With everyone dressed up to brace the cold, the team set to and assisted in the setting up of stalls and food serving areas, arranging tents and preparing water stations for the participants. Just before the start of the run, the RRT team were out on the route as field marshals to guide and direct the large crowd. This took a good strong number of marshals across both the 10K and 5K routes.
The RRT Team Members could be seen at every corner and intersection on the route with their Hi-Vis vests, helping to direct persons and cheer them on with enthusiastism to keep going.
Once the run was over RRT was on hand to strip down and clear the event up, making sure the equipment was loaded into the removal truck.
The event flowed smoothly and the RRT team was happy for the opportunity to work with the Arthritis Foundation team and make this a good experience for everyone attending.
