Sotterbach HDL Sports Day raises 3000.00€
In June 2013 the Focus Learning Campus HDL in Sotterbach raised €3000.00 for the Children’s hospice “Haus Balthasar”, as an acknowledgement of outstanding work they do.
The Director of Fundraising at the Children’s hospice, Mrs Gerhard, was delighted to accept the generous donation presented by the 12th Grade Students. The class had been responsible for raising the funds through a sports tournament. The charity project was enthusiastically supported by the rest of the school.
The Children hospice “Haus Balthasar” is a charity organisation caring for over 300 Children that are incurably ill, from all over Germany. The aim of “Haus Balthasar” is to make every day special for children and teenagers with life-limiting conditions, and their families. The Hospice supports these people on their journey through life, sharing the good times, and helping them through the tough times with practical, clinical and emotional support.
Mrs Gerhard said that “Haus Balthasar” depends on Donation to keep it in operation. Annual running costs are around 1 200 000 €. She said that 70 percent of the costs have to be covered by donations, while 30 percent of expenses are covered by government funding.
Services are available 365 days a year. Families receive support free of charge, in their own homes. The Children hospice services include:
• Hospice at Home
• Family support, counselling and therapies
• Special activities so families can have fun together
• Urgent support for families in a crisis
• Care at the end of a child or teenager’s life
• Ongoing bereavement support for the whole family
The Hospice is enormously thankful for the donation of the School, as they are trying to save children’s lives every day. Mrs. Gerhard also stated that she believes that this donation will encourage others to do the same, resulting in more financial support for their cause.
