RRT Assist with 500 Lives 500 Homes Campaign in Brisbane

On any given night in Queensland, more than 20,000 people are sleeping rough.  Finally, for those living on the streets of Brisbane, some hope and compassion has been shown. ‘500 Lives 500 Homes’ is a three-year campaign with the slogan: ‘ending homelessness in Brisbane one person, one family at a time’. The goal is to break the downward spiral that is homelessness, which too often ends in death.

Rather than just considering the problem generally, the ‘500 Lives 500 Homes’ campaign focusses on each  individual,  getting to know them by name and recording their answers to over 100 questions relating to their health, circumstances and support needs.  These answers are used to gauge vulnerability, and a central database will triage them according to need, with those at the greatest risk of death being the highest priority.

      No, I am ‘just a poor boy’ on ‘the streets of London’ to illustrate just one of the ways Charles Dickens’ highlighted poverty and homelessness in his day! Guess he’d be supporting this RRT initiative if he was here now 😀
