NZ – RRT Whangarei support Relay for Life on the 5th to 7th March 2016
Yet another Relay for Life event for New Zealand that came RRT’s way to support. On the 4th and 5th March the Cancer Society hosted event took place at the ASB Sports Arena in Kensington Whangarei.
What a day!! The variety of ages, stages, levels of fitness, a rich variety of humanity participating, was a true reflection of how cancer affects anybody, and potentially everybody either directly or indirectly.
A vibrant atmosphere was exemplary of how positivity and attitude beats adversity, with light-hearted fancy dress, bands, upbeat music, all in all a great supportive vibe was felt. There was participation by a range of sponsor and supporters, including RRT who assisted with set-up of tents and gear, and assistance with food preparation and distribution.
Relay for Life is a global movement with over 4 million people taking part, in 24 countries worldwide, starting in 1985 and growing into what it is today. The Cancer Society supports people with all types of cancer, funds cancer research; and delivers cancer education and advocacy, work that not only includes those with cancer and their families and friends, it could include any one of us in the future.
There are three threads to the event: Celebrate cancer survivors and carers; Remember loved ones lost to cancer, and to fight back by raising awareness and funds to support the work of the Cancer Society.
