MET School Goulburn Runs to Save Lives
Friday, 7th December 2012 saw an enthusiastic bunch of students; teachers, parents and community members at MET School Goulburn participate in a Fun Run. The event was organised by the new Year 12 class, to raise funds for the Snowy Hydro Southcare Rescue Helicopter.
Students spent their time during the Christmas Holidays to collect sponsorship for their efforts. While the Year 10 and Year 12 classes was unable to participate in the Fun Run due to other commitments, MET School Goulburn did a fantastic job in raising $5 590.00.
Unfortunately, the Snowy Hydro Southcare Helicopter itself wasn’t able to pay a visit to Goulburn, however on 16th September 2013, the school welcomed Snowy Hydro Southcare’s Media and Communications Manager, Kate van Haalen. She attended the final assembly for the term and accepted the cheque from the Year 12 class, then explained how the donation will be put towards saving lives. MET School Goulburn featured as the highest donator for the month in the Snowy Hydro Southcare’s September newsletter.
The same event also saw $2000 being raised for the Goulburn Base Hospital. The lunch, a sausage sizzle was hosted by the Year 12 class. A cheque was presented to Ms Kerry Hort from the Goulburn Base Hospital at the school’s Presentation Day last year. Ms Hort said during her acceptance speech “On behalf of the Goulburn Base Hospital, I would like to thank MET School Goulburn for their generous gift… the money will be put towards much needed equipment and resources at the hospital.”
