AU – RRT supports Cancer Council’s Biggest Morning Tea at Lake Cargelligo May 2016

In the early hours of the 19th of May 2016 the residents of Lake Cargelligo, a small town in Western NSW, came together to prepare for one of Australia’s largest fundraising events, the 23rd annual Cancer Council’s Biggest Morning Tea fund-raiser.

Across Australia, during May, approximately 11,500 hosts are anticipated to participate in the event raising in excess of 13.8 million dollars to help fight against cancer, and support those diagnosed with it.

In the days previous, townsfolk and the RRT had been cooking an abundance of cookies, slices, cakes and other treats to support the event and make it a success. They came together in the Anglican Church to pre pack all the morning tea snack packs (almost 300!!!) and distribute them across town.

After snacks for morning tea a sausage sizzle was held and meals were again delivered to participating businesses and individuals. Even the local nursing home was visited by the RRT to deliver much appreciated sausages and snacks.

In all, Cancer Council Lake Cargelligo raised approximately $3,000 on the day! A fantastic effort and proceeds increased almost 50% on last year’s takings. Well done to RRT and the people to Lake Cargelligo for helping make this event a success. Congratulations also to those who donated both funds and time in organising the event.
