AU – RRT Adelaide support the Walk a Mile in My Boots event July 2016
We had the BBQ well and truly fired up on that cold early morning, Friday the 29th of July.
Each year South Australians are called on to show their support for people facing homelessness by joining the “Walk a Mile in My Boots” and experiencing what it is like on a cold, winter’s morning to walk one mile to find something to eat, a hot shower and a friendly face.
This year, The Rapid Relief Team provided this dedicated team of walkers a traditional breakfast of bacon and egg rolls, hot drinks and a friendly smile.
Approximately 250 walkers from all ages arrived around 7.30 – 8am that had been put on by the Walk a Mile in my Boots hosted at Tintara-McLaren Vale. Around 300 bacon and egg rolls were prepared and served, with so many appreciating it that they came back for more.
When the Homeless Connect volunteers found time for a break from their various duties, the RRT was honoured to provide them food also.
By the time all walkers had been refreshed with food and drink, they departed and it was time to clean up. With so many of the RRT there on this morning, packing up was quick and easy.
